Hello,

I currently have a web server (Windows 2K, IIS)that is hosting our site. I can manage DNS from this server as well. I am wondering if I can host another site from the same server? If so, how does it work with DNS?

current website points to 69.x.x.x (which is the IP address of the webserver)

just confused about adding the new website and if I point it to the same ip 69.x.x.x will that cause a conflict?

Any help would be great!!

Thanks!!

In DNS create a new host record for the site, newsite.com that points to IP address of the web server.

In IIS - Create a new web site and use host headers so that IIS sends requests to the proper site. The Host Header would be the host name created in DNS.

I will give that a shot.

Thank you!!

I created a new dns zone for newsite.com and pointed to the webserver.

I created a new web site in IIS and used host headers pointing to newsite.com

Now when I go to the newsite.com it takes me to the original web site that is running on my webserver. Now is there a way to point this newsite.com to the new web site on the same web server that our original web site is currently running on?

Thanks for any help!!!

Thank you for your help!!! I got it working finally. My only problem now is I cannot view the site from the internal network, only from outside the network...is this a firewall or dns issue?

Thanks again!!
