I'm trying to run IIS (WinXP) on my home PC.

It's not on a network - and I can't seem to get anything in the folder to load. I can't start the from the IIS control window (it says "Service did not respond....").

Should I be able to load an HTML file from my browser via:
?

Do I need to be on a network?

Many thanks.....

Hi,

First of all install a loopback adapter.
How? Go to Add Remove Hardware / choose that you want to add a device / choose a network device / choose Microsoft as manufacturer and then choose loopback adapter.
Then, that virtual adapter will be a virtual network device, and can have network serices assigned. Like IIS.

Excellent - I never knew about that trick.

I just went and installed that (says it's running at 10Mbps!)
---------- BUT ----------
..still, I cannot start the web-service in IIS.... is there something I'm missing here? Can't figure it out. Any ideas, throw them in.

Thanks,

Jonathan
