I run a win 2003 server on my laptop for development purposes (web development). I would like to learn LDAP but gather that AD requires the machine to have a fixed IP address. My service provider only supplies a dynamic IP address so I haven't been able to install it. I wondered if it is possible to install Microsoft's ADAM (Active Directory Application Mode), or whether this has the same constraints. If it is possible is there anything I need to be aware of. I know very little about LDAP.

Hope someone can help
Thanks

ADAM does not require a forest, domain, or domain controller. You can install ADAM on computers that are configured as any of the following:

* Domain controllers
* Domain members
* Stand-alone computers
