Can I run 2 modems in same machine?

Hi, Thank you for the quick answer to my previous question. I still have that old compaq machine. I was wondering if I can put the modem from that machine into this computer and just have it answer the phone and still use this one for the internet? Its just a thought and if its a dumb one just let me know. Thanks again,
 
Yes. It's not quite as easy as that, but...
You need to check the phone answering software you're using, and make sure it works with the modem.
If you've got two phone lines, you can easily do it.
Your internet modem will be bound to TCP/IP protocall, and you may have to install a second instance of TCP/IP for the phone dial/answer modem, depending on software. Cheers,
