We're using outlook 2002 and exchange 2000. We're swtiching on our users autoarchives and pointing them to a shared drive on our win 2k server. But if the user logs into another pc their archive points to their local pc.

Is there anyway i can make this setting roam?

I am also looking for help in this department. We are switching to an online web based "Email vaulting tool" and I will to set all my machines to autoarchive/delete after a specified period of time. Is this possible using a group policy like feature in outlook in an exchange environment?
Thanks,
Trent

u can switch auto archive on via a policy but u cannot choose where it saves. it will only point to the default path on the users machine which won't be backed up!

i found this software but have not used it.

$2,000 OMG. I know that Microsoft has some free policy tools that would probably do the same thing for free. However, I am not skilled in GPO use, though for $2000 I think I could become a master:) Thanks for the link though!

I think the policy only lets you switch on the auto archive settings on each user. You won't be able to choose where the pst is stored, so it will save to the default folder path which will be here:
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst

This means you won't be able to back it up as it's on the users pc.
