Can I restore without merge? 1

Is it possible to skip the time wasted while merging the database if I have the arcserve database folder saved? Say, I copy the arcserve DB folder from the original server and put it on a CD, then if I need it, I install arcserve\brightstor and copy the folder over the newly created one. Server has the same hostname. Do I need to copy anything else or it just wouldn't work? Has anyone tried this?

It will work, just do not save the \database\r*.* files. Always let them be recreated.

Close the Manager
Stop all ARCserve services
copy the current database directory to a new location (- the "r" files mentioned above)
copy in the saved database directory
start up ARCserve and run your restore

When finished just follow the same steps to put back the original database.
