My NT 4 server with exchange 5.5 SP 4 went down (HD failure).
The only backup i have is a copy of priv.edb, dir.edb and pub.edb. I know i can install a new copy of NT and exchange 5.5 and get my data back, but i was wondering if it is possible to merge the files into Exchange 2000, with a different site/domain name?

I wouldn't attempt that. Go ahead and get your server back up the way it was and then work on migrating it from 5.5 to 2000. I think you'll find that although this is more time consuming it stands to give you less problems. It's always better with Windows servers that have gone down to get back to where you were before attempting to change the OS and/or domain or anything else.

Get server back up and running. Join 2k server. Move users then goto Native mode. Then you can do pretty much anything you want. Dan
