I have a customer who has pressed the "wrong button" and as a result screwed up there database. I take a backup each night and a transaction log file backup at 4am each morning.

I have now taken another transaction log backup. My question is.......can I restore the backup from last night, replay the transactions from the 4am backup and then partially replay the recent transaction backup upto the point before the cock up.

If so....how??????

Thanks for any advice

You need to restore the full backup using the WITH NORECOVERY option, then any log backups made since the full backup, also using the WITH NORECOVERY option - except for the LAST log backup. Restore that one using the STOPAT option and WITH RECOVERY.

Refer to the BOL for more information. Use the index tab and enter RESTORE.
