Can I publish Crystal XI Reports in Crystal Enterprise V10? 2

Hi,

Can someone please give me a quick yes/no answer to this.

Can I write a report in Crystal Reports XI, and publish it to Eportfolio (Crystal Enterprise V10) or will there be issues??

I need to know this to advise whether another dept should buy Crystal Reports XI or V10, as they will be publishing to Enterprise, and that wont be updated to XI anytime soon.

I haven't tried it, but I don't believe so. The runtime engine was updated for XI, so it's not the same as the one in CE 10.

One way to check would be to see if you can download a trial version of XI, write a quick report, publish it and see if it works.

Hi,
You most likely will not be able to use the 'save as' method to save to the CE10 repository but the v10 Publishing Wizard may be able to publish an XI report to the CE10 ( just do not use any XI-specific functions and methods, they will not exist after publishing to CE10 and it may cause the publishing to fail)

Thanks for your responses.

As the user is not an advanced Crystal user, I will recommend then that they stick to using Crystal V10 until we update from Enterprise 10 to XI, as it sounds like there are too many possibilities of things going awry if he tries to publish XI onto Enterprise 10.
