Hi, our company does work for ATT and we have several systems we access over a VPN connection with our Cisco router which uses a DSL line. We are hiring more people and would like to get another way to access the net and e-mail since our line is starting to slow up with everyone on it. We have to keep this DSL line and VPN connection no matter what and trying to find a way to get another braodband connection in here.
The owner of our company is up for getting a T1 line installed. We would like to have the people who need access to the ATT systems use the DSL line and everyone else use the T1 line. Is this possible and if so we have a server which everyone has their own company folder on, how would I get the people who use the different internet connection to still get on the server? Thank you very much.

You could get another Cisco router to handle the T1 and create a VPN config in it, and the internal subnets can always be accesses by eachother if necessary (L3 switch, with their respective VLANs coming off the router LAN interfaces, etc.), HOWEVER...

Why not consider getting SDSL, and a faster speed than what you have? The difference would likely be the cost of a T1, and plus you would save $$$ by only needing existing equipment (possibly), and it would be more simple and save a lot of time. The fact that it would be synchronous would really make a difference in the VPN connection!

Thank you very much, we were looking into a faster speed and in the industrial park we are in, all that ATT offers is the 1.5Mbs :( That would of been the way to go if we could. We did just purchase a Netgear smart switch, would that do what we needed so everyone could access the company server? With using two internet connections? We of course would need someone to configure this, if that's possible.

Any managed L3 switch would do...I am not familiar with Netgear switches that much. Have you consulted with AT&T on this, since they work through your connection? I am not sure about your relationship with them, but it may be worth a shot...

We could definitely help you get a config going, pending your decision on connections, topology (more equipment, i.e. extra router to handle the T1, what type, L3 switch for the two subnets, etc.), etc.
