Hi there,

I need to build a file in VFP 7 that was running in Access 2000/2002. Is it possible to import it into VFP7 or should I just start all over? Otherwise, is it possible to create a runtime version in Access to demonstrate it with others?

thanks

The easiest way is to export the data as a delimited file and then append the data into a VFP table.

You could save the table as a DBF, but if MS Access tables don't have a structure set and you try to save the table directly as a DBF, each field would be 255 wide and the file size would balloon.

It is also possible to create an ODBC connection and select the data into a table, but it seems slow to me.

FYI I've noticed data problems with "APPEND FROM FileName.csv TYPE CSV" (which assumes a header), that do not occur when using "APPEND FROM FileName.csv TYPE DELIM", which assumes there is no header.

Hi afbutlerandassoc

Sometime ago I had to import mdb tables from access into visfox version 6. I know you've mentioned version 7 but if its just the tables you want, then try the link below (It worked a treat in v6 and there is no mention of changing the code for v7)

Good luck

You can MDB2DBCa.app for this search on UT downloads section its running standart vfp import wizard at the end of it creates DBC and tables

Just to say thet I recently used the MS program indicated by keepingbusy for a very large MDB with many tables also including memo fields and everything worked well.

You can use the program as is, just changing the name of the dbc to be created and probably a folder that will contain it.

...forgot the important thing! I used it with VFP8...

Hi zazzi

Good to hear from someone who has also used the code from Microsoft and in particular with VFP8
