I had an NT server with SQL 7 that I upgraded to SQL 2000.
Recently NT crashed and I rebuilt the server as a 2000 box. I had backups and was able to recover all my databases. However I also had another web aplication runing on the server that links to one of the sql databases. When I try to reinstal that aplication it says that it needs SQL 7 and then stops instaling. I know the ap works with SQL 2000 as it was doing so before but was wondering if I could instal SQL 7 on the box and then later unistall it after I have reinstaled the Jave web app?

Yes you should be able to do that. You will need to remove your current SQL 2000 installation however before you can install SQL 7.

To get SQL 7 and SQL 2000 running at the same time on the same machine you must install SQL 7 first, then install SQL 2000 as a Named Instance.
