sometimes while working with access I get a message asking if I want to empty the clipboard. What does this mean? and can I see the contents of the clipboard? For some reason access will not let me get into the design view of a table, telling me a form or query is open that it is bound to, but its not. Does the clipboard have something to do with this? any help or quick learning lessons would be appreciated.

That is a standard message any time you copy/paste. I've never had a use for saving for later use, maybe others have. If you want to see what you have copied, you can usually open excell and paste to see.

i sometimes get the message that a form/query bound to the table is open when trying to go to design. I can only assume that an object (such as the recordset was not explictly closed)
I wouldn't have thought the clip board msg has anything to do with this.
Do you ever use DAO/ADO? I have always read to explicitly close/set to nothing these variables
ie 'recordset.close and set db(database) = nothing
