Hello all,

I'm looking after an Exchange 5.5 server. I've had a request from a manager to be able to view the emails, including contents, that a user has sent over the last 30 days. The user has deleted all their sent items etc.

I know I can use track messages to show messages sent and received over the the tracking history, but we need to be able to see the content as well.

I don't know of anyway to do this with exchange, is there any? or does anyone know of any products that can do this sort of thing?

Cheers all, Simon.

what an email facist!! you can use tracking to gauge the amount of mails being sent and received.

You can up diagnistics logging but this will keep record of EVERYONE....so unless you have loads and loads of diskspace and lots of spare time...probably not a good idea...you could be sneaky and open the account, and as long as you have a retention period set, you can recover the deleted items...failing that add an alternate recipient under ADMIN...haven't used this in ages, so I cn't remember if the user is aware of what is going on......

ummm...save time and sack 'im!

a bit over the top there! email is a company resource and as such shouldnt be abused. I mean you dont want employees walking off with the furniture do u?

anyway.. the guys at have just released a new report in their software so you can get also get good reports on attachment usage too. this software takes all the guess work out of monitoring. And monitoring is good for other reasons too.. like system sizing.
