good day everybody!
firstly i will to thanks all for the time to view my qn...

just like to find out whether is it possible to export a report as a template from MS Access 2000 into Crystal Report Pro?
my version of Crystal Report is built for Visual Basic ( it is a version 4.6.1.0)
previously the report is created in MS Access but now i need to migrate to Crystal Report to do the reporting...
i just need to get the header and footer into Crystal Report..

thanks again!

thanks for the reply...
what about if i have already created a report in CR and i wanted my next report to have the exact layout as my first one???
could i just go to "Database" -> "Remove from Report" and delete the query and go "Add Database to Report" to add in a new query and then save this as a new report.....
does the above method work and create another report with the same layout as the previous one?

one more qn is tat why is it tat i am unable to view my tables in CR?? i can do tat in MS Access through my queries and find out which tables are linked up....
how will i koe which tables are linked up and wat is their primary key in CR?

thanks for your time again ;>

Removing tables will remove any of the fields from that table, with their formatting. Any non-field objects will remain.

Database - Visual linking will show tables. Ken Hamady

good day to all...
thanks for the reply again....

sorry to bother u but there is still one point that has confuse me that i need clarification...

in ur previous reply, u told me tat i can view my tables in under Database->Visual linking but when i take a look at it...it only shows my query which has extract its fields from the table columns...
could i say tat the main purpose of CR is purely for generating reports from existing database??
As i started learning creating reports on MS Access first, wat Access can do is they can create tables, queries and reports as well....

thanks for the time!

Crystal will read existing tables and allow you to create a 'query' that selects columns from tables.

Access is a database and can creat tables. Crystal can't create tables. It is similar to the query and reporting functions of MS access. Ken Hamady

good day to all!

thanks for the previous reply...

one more thing tat i need to find out...
as i am using CR to do my reporting and Visual Basic 6 to code and run my program...how do i link up both of them so that when i use VB to call out CR....CR will print out the reports from the criteria set in VB???

do i use SQL query to do the linking???

thanks again!

You could either pass CR a SQL statement, or a selection formula. I believe that the SQL statement would have to have an identical select as was generated by the report, but the from and where can be changed. If you pass the Selection formula, CR generates the SQL statement for you. Ken Hamady
