Hi all,
I have a problem with a picture definition in CR 8.5 Professional.
According to the value of database field I want to display different pictures in report. Is it possible in CR? For example, can I define picture filename in program code?

Do you have experiences with this problem?
Thank you for all your answers.

As a purely crystal solution, this is not possible. I believe it can be done in VB with the Crystal report designer component, but I have never been successful at this. Although I have never tried all that hard.

See thread149-214487 for the best discussion I have seen regarding how to do this. Unfortunately the person with the "solution" on this thread never responded to my posts asking for code examples.

I too am trying to do this, but with Visual Fox Pro not VB as my language of choice.

Does anyone know of an alternate?

Can I export my Report to Excel and add t;he pictures? Every time I export to excel I lose my formatting etc and everything flows onto one spreadsheet -- so I just have different problems.

I was also wondering about Acrobat 5.0 as a possible work around? with a default image and then replace the image in Acrobat?

I'm up against a short term deadline so I need a quick work around as well as a long term solution for the future!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello All,
I checked out that other thread that Dgillz referred to and the first thing that the other solution stated was to place the picture within the database and not use a physical path. We all know that you can insert pictures fine if they reside as a blob field within the database, but if you are trying to insert pictures from an outside source the only method we ever came up with was to take the images and insert them into the report and use conditional suppression based on field values. I just thought of another method right now, but I've gotta go test it before i post.. =)
