Can I create dynamic reports with CR Professional? 2

Hi,

I just started a VB project which requires Crystal Reports and have never used it before. We have the professional edition, not the developer edition. I was wondering if it is possible to create SQL queries in VB and pass them to CR using the Professional edition or do we need the Developer edition? Also, does anyone have a good book to recommend for CR and VB?

I like the book by George Peck, The Complete Reference. He has one for V7 and V8.

If you have V7, professional is all there is. Developer was introduced with V8 and I would be surprised if you could use professional 8 with VB. Of course, VB comes with CR V4.6, a pretty clunky version. It isn't installed by default but it is on the CD. Ken Hamady

Idyement: I concur with Ken's suggestion re George Peck's book and regret that you will need to upgrade to Developer edition to gain access to the API through VB David C. Monks
