Can I create an import/export spec without using the wizard?

For eons I have created import/export specs using the GUI. Moreover, I understand that Access stores those specs in MSysIMEXSpecs. However, I have NEVER been able to create a new spec without using the wizard. Does anybody know if one of these ideas are viable?

1. Somehow gain the ability to insert records into MSysIMEXSpecs.
2. Interact with MSysIMEXSpecs using VBA code.

I want to do this for three reasons:

1. You can't cause the wizard to appear unless you start the import/export process, then click the "advanced" button. That can be cumbersome.
2. Once you start the wizard, it thinks that you will only use the spec on the currently selected table. So it limits what you can write.
3. It would just be cool to subvert the wizard.

Yes, it is possible. I have just tried it. Don't forget the MSysIMEXColumns table.

It's probably not subversive enough for you, but you can use schema.ini for text files :)

I googled "schema.ini" and I found some useful information.

Now I have two more questions:
1. Is there a way to output an export spec as a schema.ini file?
2. How do I actually USE a schema.ini file? For example, in the gui interface for macros, I looked at the "transfer text" action. I did not see an argument like "specify schema". Where do I actually tell Access to use a certain schema?
