Hi,

Not sure if this is at all possible - I think probably not but.....
Can someone please tell me if I can create a 'read-only' user account on the Crystal Job Server so that when it looks at the SQL Server it will create less logs on the SQL Server, and take less time to run?

The reports are currently run using Crystal Enterprise 10 with Windows authentication per user.

If this can be done, how??

Thanks

Hi,
Any Crystal server can be configured to run under any valid account for your system -(preferably a Domain account)..Create the account you want the services to run under and then make it a ReadOnly Sql Server user..( I am not sure how SqlServer handles access rights, however, so your methods might vary) ( Be sure it also has any needed file system permissions as well)..

The Crystal Job Server account shouldn't determine the SQL Server account, the account that's logged in will.

If it's a scheduled report, I believe that the account fo the person scheduling it is used.

So if you have the SQL Server users in a Group with read only rights you should get what you're after.

Hi,
Good catch..I was thinking of the file system access issue and forgot about the fact that the database login is separate and set in the CMC ( or when published)..

I'll blame Monday ( or a that I was having 'Supermodel Moment')[blush]...I use Read Only Oracle accounts all the time for published reports and should have realiazed my goof..
