I have hundreds of Corel draw 4 cdr files many vital to my business.
I have to start using Corel 6 for the better filters and wonder if there is any way some of my more essential cdr files can be read by Corel 6.

If you know of a possible way I would be very appreciative if you could respond thank you

Corel 6 should be backwards compatible with 4. The only time you usually have a problem is trying to read files created in a higher version number than the one you are trying to read them with.

If you find any issues, try saving your version 4 files in Corel Presentation Exchange format (*.CMX)

Many thanks attrofy
This morning a 4CD package of Corel 6 suite arived in the post . I managed to track down one still on the shelf!
As you say it does seem to be backwardly compatable thank heavens.
I have been working in itall day and I have to say it is not very friendly with far to many tools and the common ones not easily to hand as corel 4 still `onward and upward'!

I think it is what you get used to. The older Corel versions, although powerful, were simplistic. The later revisions "appear" more convuluted, but in the end, with the tool bars changing according to the selected tool, things are really quite easy to use. I can't remembre if 7 was the begining of that change or not, but I remember liking 7 much more than 4 through 6. I am still adjusting to 11, and find it has very many powerful tools that work much "easier" than 9, but still seem to think 9 was more simplistic.
