HOw can I browse a tape to see what is or is not there? Everything I find so far wants me to browse job logs or media logs. There has to be a way to throw in a tape and see what is there, regardless of the media name assigned to it. Can any of you folks shed any light on this subject? Thank you kindly.

You would need to merge the tape setting the do not use catalog merge key in the registry. This will merge files from the tape as per their file header. You still need to look into the database via the restore or database views to see what files are on the tape.
