We've got a BCM400 4.0 with the following config.
Bus 2 - DSM32+
Bus 3 - DSM32+
Bus 4 - DSM32+
Bus 5 - DSM32+
Bus 6 - DTM
Bus 7 - GATM8

DS30 split - 2/6

If possible I want to add more digitial statation ports. Can I replace the GATM8 with a 4/16 or do I have insufficient buses left? Also, how many IP phones can I add? How do you determine how many IP phones the system can handle?

Any help would be appreciated.

Peter

No chance for TDM telephones. I believe you can officially have 75 IP sets, but I think 63 is more likely.

Your trying to put 10LB of crap in a 5LB bag. You need a Option 11C or whatever they call it these days.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

You can certainly change your GATM8 to another DSM32 or DSM16 but 4x16 uses 2 buses. Outta luck on the backup lines i'de say. OR you could always add IP sets

You could also get a Bcm Voip Gateway that will include another Bcm 400 including MCDN keycode and 48 Voip Gateway trunks that will hold your trunk cards(Dtm or GATM)so it will free up all 6 buses on your original Bcm, pushing it to 192 Digital ports. I installed a couple of these and its pretty easy to setup.

Thank you all for the feedback. The solution gberger suggested may be a good option down the road.
