Hi, Can anyone shed any light on why the can grow/shrink property in a report doesn't always work?

Can give good example. Take 4 address fields, each using the dlookup function to display data - they grow/shrink just fine. One other field (the country in address section) uses the Iff function to test for UK or overseas - that doesn't grow/shrink. OK, UK addresses show fine because the country is excluded, but overseas addresses leave spaces if say the state or zip code is missing.

Any solutions you guys and gals might have would be appreciated :)

Cheers, Jon.
Does it have a TRIM stement in it?

=Trim([MyCountry])
DougP
dposton@universal1.com

Ask me how Bar-codes can help you be more productive.

Doug, I'm not sure why i would need the Trim function. My fields, one below each other etc, are shrinking vertically, with the exception of the Country field - that's the one that stays fixed regardless of the can grow/shrink setting.

Any other ideas?

Regards, Jon.

Have now resolved the can grow/shrink problem. Seems to be adjacent controls were interfering with the positioning. Relocate those controls and grow/shrink works fine. However, it meant that nothing useful could be placed to the right of the address fields.

Proper solution: Place address fields in subreport, set grow/shrink, and embed in main report. All works just great and can also have other fields to righthand side of address.

Cheers, Jon.
