Hi,
For a certain report, assume I have a text field 'FieldA' where I have used the 'can grow' option. Below it, I have another text field 'FieldB'. FieldA can be of variable size and I want it to autoexpand in height if it exceeds the text field length in the report.
However, I noticed that FieldA (for a very long text), overlaps onto FieldB.
Note that FieldA and FieldB are fields of a page header report.
Can anyone tell me how I can prevent this overlapping; I must necessarily maintain the 'can grow' option.
Thanks
Maryline.

Are both the fields in the same section of the report? If they are then try inserting a section below, and place FieldB in this section.

Cheers

Marc

Yes, you need to split your page header into PH A and PH B. A field can't grow beyond it's section. Ken Hamady

I'm having overlapping problems too even AFTER putting the field (which is set up for Can Grow) into its own detail section. I've tried re-arranging this field to be wider in its new section, changed the font to one with proportional spacing, re-sized the section to make sure there is enough room for the data to "expand", and changed the orientation to portrait. But still every time the next record gets processed, the previous record's field gets overwritten in the exported file (RTF format).

Any other ideas to try?

My setup is CR 8, report is landscape oriented, field being overlapped is a blob/text/memo datatype, using SQL Server 2000 database. Let me know if you need a sample copy of this exported file.

Thanks,
Wolfgang
