can grow/can shrink property

does anyone know why the can grow/can shrink property would not be working for a text box with an expression on a report? it worked fine in Access 97 and now that i have brought it into Access 2000, the property doesn't work on this field, yet it does work on other fields in this report. i tried enclosing the expression in parentheses, but it didn't help. below is the expression in the text box-

=[MaxOfFELLSHP_FY] & " - " & [fellowship]

sure, it doesn't grow or shrink--it stays the length of the text field on the report.

if i make the length of the text box really wide then it will print the complete data, but it just won't "wrap".....

i use can grow/can shrink quite regularly and have never had a problem...this is strange--

Does the section allow shrinking and growing? Have you tried showing the border to confirm your issue?

One issue that kills "Can Grow" every time is if the text box overlaps another text box. In help search "grow", pick the first topic "CanGrow, CanShrink Properties", and read the last three bullets at the very bottom.
