can get to some web pages but not others (very weird prob)

Here is the deal:

has several links out from it. any of the links starting w/t rbcc.royalbank.com I cannot follow (page cannot be displayed) and a few others. We have a T1 connection. We got to the web sites by dialing into a different network (Earthlink). Thought it might be the firewall, but when we bypassed it (connected a laptop directly to our ISP and used the firewall ip address ) we still could not get to the web sites. ISP claims that they can get to them from the router we connect to. Some are https others are not, and there are some https pages in the

http://www.royalbank.com

that we can get to with no problems. Any suggestions are welcome.

Sounds like a DNS issue. You were able to get on the other websites on earthlink because you are using different DNS. when you are on your earthlink account go to your command prompt and type ipconfig /all now copy down the DNS server numbers and enter them in your pc on your lan(you don't host your own dns do you???????/) give that a try.

Yes it is a DNS problem.
Force your DNS server if you have one to point to the new IP/URL
What you do is on cmd prompt you ping the correct IP then you go tracert to the same IP. After that you use the URL.

If you don't have a DNS server you force your machine/firewall to do the same. Hope this Helps

Thanks for the reply. I agree it looks like a DNS problem. We do have an internal DNS. Also I can not ping any address inside the ROyal Bank domain due to they firewall settings.
