Can Extra! Be Used to Control an SAP Session?

In our former IMS system, I could use an Extra! emulator to scrape data from the terminal and put data on the terminal screen that would update the IMS system. In this way a significant number of updates could be performed with little or no user involvement at the terminal.

Are there any similar options available for SAP updates?
