Hello everyone,

Within our database we have some unrelated tables which we are considering viewing on a form as a dialogue. As this is unrelated to the other tables can we add a set of smarticons to the dialogue for independent searching and make the form modeless ie. let me interact with the underlying form at the same time if required?

Thanks in advance,

You would have to use buttons or icons (picture controls) and the dialog cannot be loaded modeless.

Having said that, I don't recommend using dialog forms with bound controls. They are unstable and operations like Finds often return incorrect results.

If you register at (free) and go to Discussions | Approach | FAQs etc | Tips & Techniques, there's an item, "Dialog Form rules" which explains some of the limitations.

It would be better to use a regular form view in a separate apr and open this in a second Approach session.

If you have an understanding of LotusScript and SQL you could use a Lotus Dialog with a ListView control. There's an example at xpertss.com in the Free Downloads section, apr-dlgs.zip. Needs more programming because all controls on a Lotus Dialog are unbound but you can display it modeless.
