Here's a screen shot of a Dedup device with several days worth of backups. Notice that they named in sequence but not by date.

Just below the Dedup device are some FSD's that are dynamically named by date for comparison.

Is there a way that Dedup sessions can be named by date and/or whether they are Full or differential (it is set up for GFS afterall). The date the device was initialized is not very informative.

Drew

I could be wrong but I think it just works that way, at least it does for me. I've not played around with all the options but I just setup a test GFS job and the backup went to the same virtual tape in my dedup device instead of creating a new one like it would have if backing up to a physical tape or a FSD. FSDs are treated just like tapes in that and other respects.
