I have Crystal Enterprise 8.0 and Crystal Reports (Developer Edition 8.5). Can these two applications both be installed on the same server without any issues.

The reason I ask is due to an error after installing Reports onto a server that already had enterprise installed. This has worked for over a year now, but following the installation of crystals reports on Friday the 'Page Server' and 'Web Component Server' for crystal enterprise can not start up due to missing files.

I am only doing this because I have been told that you can not call reports from ASP code directly without having crystal reports on the server as enterprise does not install the necessary components.

I currently have reports working using enterprise in an unmanaged way vai the URL. I wish to expoit the more advanced options by using the Report Design Component, is this the right way forward?

Thanks, perhaps my problem is a one-off then. If anyone else can confirm this that would be very helpful. Also if you can remember in which order the products were installed.

It's bad enough that the dev server is out of action, but its not somewhere I want to be any time soon with the live site.

Yes, I have run this configuration for almost two years. The problem may be that the install of Crystal Reports may have written over (back to the old version) files that were patched for the server.

Enterprise 8 is a touchy beast and I really have taken the "it isn't broke don't fix it" attitude and am only implementing new functionality for Crystal Enterprise 9. The upgrade too, has been far from painless however. That is another story.

Try repatching the server, that may just do the trick.
