We would like to set up a Crystal Rpeorts Server XI on a Windows XP Pro SP2 workstation as a "proof-of-concept" environment. We would like to use CRS's .NET web component adapter.

I have read the platforms file and it does not list Win XP Pro but I thought I would give it a go anyway.

I set up Win XP Pro SP2 and added the IIS 5.1 web server. I then added the .NET 1.1 Framework SDK to get ASP.NET as per the instructions in the MS document:

I then installed CRS XI. I tried the .NET InfoView page and all I got was a txst display of the source code for the ASP page.

This I assume means that at this stage there is no application server available to process the .NET InfoView pages.

My question to the forum is: Is it at all possible to get CRS XI with the .NET InfoView running on a Win XP Pro SP2 workstation and if so what else do I have to get it running?

Thanks in advance to all who reply.

Ensure that you've got Internet Information Server installed (add/remove programs, windows components). you can manage the IIS component from Computer Manager (right-click in "my computer," then click on "manage"- IIS will be at the bottom). Note- you dont really need the FTP server. I'd just add the HTTP and SMTP servers.

I've got an proof-of-concept CRXI server installed on a windows 2000 box, running IIS and .NET infoview- and it works just fine.

One item of note though- if you need to install .NET 2.0 (needed for VS 2005), you'll need to do a "parallel install." Otherwise, you'll get a "508 compliance" error w/ infoview. For more info, check this BO KB article:

Just realized that you do have IIS installed- ensure that the windows firewall is off (as it prompts you during install).

Also, go into your Central Configuration Manager (START, PROGS, BO XI, CR SERVER, CCM) and check to see if any of the servers failed to start. If so, try restarting it.

Not sure about CRS but with earlier versions you had to associate the .CSP file extension in IIS otherwise just the source code came up when you navigated to a page.

Hi,
XI R2 does not use .csp pages ( except in very special circumstances and from limited virtual directories) they have finally gone to .asp ( in fact, mostly .aspx for the BOE developed pages) like everyone else..
