I have a series of CR 8.5 reports that need to run in sequence. Is it possible to kick off report2 from report1's report footer or something like that? Is there a better way? Thanks!

Have a great day!

Insert Report2 as a subreport in the report footer of Report1. Format the report footer of Report1 to insert a page break before the subreport. You can create multiple report footer sections, each holding a different subreport, and format each to insert a page break before the next subreport.

Thanks, GMcNamara. I'm afraid I didn't communicate very clearly. I need the data from report1 to be exported to a text file so it can be read by report2 as input.

You ought to be able to schedule that sort of thing using Crystal Enterprises - ask there, I don't know the details. But I am pretty certain that Crystal can't start other crystal except as a subreport.

If you link the reports, you are essentially sending data from Report1 to Report2. Why do you need the text file?

Give a few more details about what you are trying to doing and we may be able to figure out a way for you to do this in Crystal, without exporting, etc.

I have a non normalized table that has 30 sets of lease payment information per record which needs to be matched up with a normalized table that has one record per month. It is a puchased application and I cannot modify it.

Here is a simplified reocord layout

Table 1 - non normalized
Company#, Lease#, Mon1Fld1, Mon1Fld2, Mon2Fld1, Mon2Fld2, ... Mon29Fld1, Mon29Fld2, Mon30Fld1, Mon30Fld2

Table 2 - normalized
Year, Month, Fld1, Fld2, etc

I want to split Table1 (DetailA holds Mon1 data, DetailB holds Mon2 data, etc) and export it to a text file to normalize it to facilitate linking to Table2.

Since the final report will be exported to Excel I can't use a subreport and bring it back as an array because Excel would add a blank line before every lease if I suppressed the printing out of the subreport.

Hopefully this helps to clarify things a little bit. Thanks!

Have a great day!

You might want to look at the 3rd party report schedulers out there. My cViewMANAGER supports Report Collections, that process several reports in sequence.

Ken Hamady has a full list of 3rd aprty products on his web site.
