Does anyone know if Biztalk can handle an HL7 directly or if there needs to be another interface to pass this?

Thanks

From my understanding it can. I have not seen it work yet though. We are still looking at it. However I do not think it is a replacement for a true IM box like Cloverleaf, Datagate, etc..

Hope that helps.

Thanks, it does help.

Why do feel it is not a replacement for an IM like Cloverleaf? I am interested since we may want to look at it to possibly replace our existing IM box.

Jalby,

At this point the product is still young and does not have the built in functions that Cloverleaf has. Also I am a little biased to Cloverleaf, because I have ran it on a AIX box that never goes down. Unlike NT that needs to be re-booted. I feel that Biz-Talk is great first step, but has a ways to go before it is in the same arena as Cloverleaf.

Atitude,

Thanks for the insight.

I take it that you work within or have worked in an HIS setting and have experiance with the HBO/McKesson products.

My experiance with Cloverleaf is very limited as is my experiance with BizTalk. I have to admit I do like the mapping schema within BizTalk.

IMO, BizTalk is a full replacement (and then some) for DataGate, E*Gate, Cloverleaf, etc. The product is still a bit young, but Microsoft is dumping huge amounts of effort into development.
