I have the need to connect some wireless devices to an existing LAN. I am using the BEFW11S4 but it prevents NETBIOS and other ports for the LAN. I guess this is because of NAT and firewall features. What I am wondering is, can I configure this to disable NAT/DHCP ? In other words, turn my router into a wireless HUB (access point like the WAP11 unit). Has anyone else done this before ? (this is a router behind a router. The router on the internet WAN is a Netopia R6000 the Linksys BEFW11S4 is behind the Netopia on the local LAN.)

Yes, you can use it as an access point. (the WAP11 has some special features that cannot be duplicated, but are not of importance in your case)

Connect to the router, disable DHCP. Set to obtain an IP dynamicly.

Run a cable from your other router to the uplink LAN port on the BEFW11S4. The WAN port is a non-issue in this setting. For a reasonable diagram of what you want to do see:

Bcastner,
Thanks for the tip! I will try this and post back. Looks like that should work great.

Just a follow on update. I tried this with a non-wireless router I had lying around and it worked perfectly using the UPLINK port instead of the WAN port as the internet "feed".
Thanks again :)

FYI - Post implementation follow up. I installed the wirepless Linksys connecting the UPLINK to the internet (from the Netopia router). Disabled DHCP, static IP configured for the LInkssys. Wa la! it worked VERY well. Thanks again for the help!
