Hi there,

BE10 with Exch agent running on Exch2003 server with w2k3 server.

By reading the help file, to my understanding, for a complete restore of a particular user's mailbox, I've to dismount the mailsotre before restore, which means affecting the rest of the users.

Wondering if BE10 can do a on-line restore of a particular user's mailbox without dismounting the whole mailstore?

Many thanks!

If you used the exchange agent and did a mailbox "brick level" backup you can restore anytime you want.

Could use RSG but I think for someone that is not exchange savy it would be a pain.

Hi steveot,

how do i ensure "brick level" backup in be10? Now i just simplt tick "MS Exchange mailboxes" & "MS Exchange public folders", then in Exchange settings, both "Exchange server" & "Exchange mailbox" are with "Full backup method"

If that's good enough for "brick level" backup? Many thanks!

hi steveot,

last night i did another test, backup successful, on the test mailbox i deleted all email, then use be10 to restore that test mailbox only, restore task 100% completed, however login to test mailbox couldn't find any emails

wondering have i missed something during backup/restore?

many thanks!

Did the restore job report it restore messages?

Hi Steveot,

A few lines from restore job log:

Restoring data to \\EXCHANGE\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes .
Storage Media #1: " Media created 5/3/2006 9:00:17 PM "
Backup performed on 5/3/2006 at 9:01 PM
Backup set #1: " Backup 00043 "
Restored 5 mail messages in 24 folders in 1 mailbox(es)
Processed 62,718 bytes in 1 minute and 5 seconds.
Throughput rate: 0.055 MB/min

so i guess it should be done without problem, right?

Now I login to that mailbox, still couldn't find those restored message, wondering have i missed something?

Many thanks!

Hi Steveot,

Also after login to that restored mailbox, only had 1 message from administrator with content:

VERITAS Backup Exec for Windows Servers has activated the mailbox receiving this message. After verifying that all other mailbox contents have been restored, you can delete this message. For more information, please contact your system administrator or refer to the job history for job <Restore 00011>.
