Hi,

Can Backup Exec 8.6 be installed on Windows Server 2003? I'm trying to backup a Windows 2003 client using Backup Exec. Can I do this and what part of backup exec do I need to install?

Thanks,
Enoch

Its not support and wont backup the Shadow copy components..thus its not really fully protecting the server.

Yes it can but it isn't supported. It works well even on 64 bit though despite the lack of shadow copy support.

As previously mentioned, Veritas won't support it that way...but it does work, and why spend $$ on a newer version if your current software accomplishes what you need to do?

It wont accomplish protecting the server from a disaster recovery since you cant protect the shadow copy components.
If you just backing up data...sure then probably yes..but why would you gamble that..if you data is that important then make sure your supported.
