Hi we have a MAS in Server-Gateway mode.
Customer has one Public IP-address, no public domain name.
He wants to setup an external Web conference.

Is this possible? When he is sending an invite and I try to join the Web conference i see a connection is made towards the URL (Mitelmas.companyname.com)

Is there a workaround/trick?
Thanks!

Must have 2 ip addresses ( not sure if you can trick it to work without names.

1 ip is used by portal to setup conferences.
1 ip is used by collaboration client during conference.

The software uses the same port numbers for both and uses the ip address to distinguish the traffic.

Hi, yes, you can use an IP as a domain is always converted to IP anyhow. But Billz makes a good point as the software uses the same port you may need 2 ips.

I guess there is no way to change either one of the ports?

do you have AWC installed on the MSL in server gateway mode?

A good way to test is to try this internal on IP address...
in other words blah/blah blah/conf nr

if this works then you can use an IP address but the fact that these two services connect on different ports you will have to use two IP addresses.

Hi, Thanks!
So in the MAS "configure this server" i fill in the IP-address instead of the domain or...?

Can a basic conference work with only 1 public ip?

If you ask Mitel the answer is definately No and it is certinely not supported, but in the real world in certain circumstances it can work on one ip address, I have seen it.
Ive not done much testing on this so not sure exactly on the circumstances it works in as yet but it is possible that the firewall has port 4443 open as well as 443. This is not a standard port so not best practice to open it but then there are many users out there who just want stuff working no matter the risks.
The AWC client will always try port 4443 first assuming that if it can connect it is local to the AWC and if it fails it then tries 443.

Thanks all for your answers!

@boycey9: indeed the customer wants it up-and-running without DNS and only 1 IP...no matter what...

@Mitelpassion: Internal to works.
But from external, it doesn't.
Connecting on IPaddress over the internet and going to the AWC userportal works fine.
Then there's an option "test browser". Downloading the collaboration client also works fine, but then it's connectingand after a while i get "computer cannot make connection with AWC-server".
When making a Wireshark trace, after a while i see a DNS lookup of "Mitelmas.companyname.com" is made although i'm tryingto connect on IPaddress!?
And i'm not sure how to change this.
Any ideas?

not sure who you expect to use this from the outside, but if they are all company employees, or always the same people, you could get them to put Mitelmas.companyname.com with the public IP address in their computers HOST file. It is what I had to do when I was setting up a pre-2.0 MAS back when you could ONLY connect to them via FQDN. bit of a kludge, but you can only work with what you are given to work with.

What have you got in your Web conference settings under web conference name, This field is where the client will connect to, Not sure if it allows you to put an ip address in here but if it does it may work.
