Can arcserveIt 6.6 for Netware run on netware 6.5? If so what am i missing I keep getting the following: error 21026 and 21006 PFC.NLM reported a critical error.
Tanks

Not much help, but I believe the PFC.NLM is the Pre-Flight Check NLM. Arcserve used to have patches on its old website, but I don't know if they still do. I ran 6.1 until a couple of years ago when I switched to Veritas Backup Exec. But, I was running Arcserve on 5.1, not 6.

Thanks you guys for your prompt reply.
Iolar, do you like Veritas Backup Exec?

marvhuffaker, which backup product are you recommending for NetWare 6.5?

I'm running Buckup Exec, I think most of us here are. Personally I can't give BE a glowing recommendation; it works ok (and beats the crap out of SBCON) but is a little clunky and the java-based Admin Console is painfully slow. I went through sheer hell getting GroupWise to backup with it, but once setup it's pretty reliable.

You should at least look at Commvault. I have heard great things about it from other Novell admins. I havent' used it myself, mainly because they won't respond to my emails.

Backup Exec is all right. It does take some manual configuration - especially in the /etc/hosts file. It's not hard, but do read the documentation BEFORE you install. I had not heard about Commvault, but I'm definitely going to look into it.

personally arcserve 6.6 was great
backup exec - is fine except for it's handling of media sucks, it's crap for clusters and there support is crap as well

i think most use it but mainly due to poor alternatives

such a simple concept and everyone screws it
