Can anyone tell if I can upgrade from mics rel. 1 to mics 4.1 and if so is this just a software upgrade or do feature and trunk cards have to be swaped out?
Samuri,
Upgrade just a software thing. But you will have to take your programming out of the R1T1 by hand. I don't think (hope to be corrected) that you can do a software swap/upgrade on any machine prior to MICS Rls 2.0 and up. For instance when I do upgrades from Modular 8X24s to MICS I have to make a paper programming record and then reprogram the MICS by hand. But typically this is not really hard. Just takes a couple of hours.
I don't know if the Excel spreadsheet programming method would work around this or not.
Some versions of Rel 1 can be upgraded without losing programming if the "MICS Rls 4.0 UPGRADE TOOL" is used.
Some versions of R1T1 need an extra step beyond that (1.1) to save programming as the software converts to the newer platform that starts at 2.0. If you are not concerned about saving the program, just change out the cartridges.
