My executive director wants to set up an additional "ACD queue" at our backup center to receive calls about Amber Alerts and the easiest way would be to throw out some IP Phones but we don't want to drop a lot of cash. We may be dumping the Avaya all together in the next 6 months or so. I am looking for some inexpensive (cheap) IP phones that will fit the need, nothing fancy.
Any recommendations?
We are currently running an S8710 with 9640 IP phones on it.

Do you have SIP capabilities on your system? SIP phones are running fairly cheap these days. No Name brand for $40-$50 or Cisco/Grandstream for just a little more.

I'm not certain if it is enabled or not. Where would I find that?

Thanks montyzummer, I understand that. It's the line item inside the above commands I am not sure of.

You won't be able to register SIP endpoints to your CM system unless you have Session Manager (in which case, you really register to SM). The 1600 phones are H323 and cheap.

What type of system are you moving to?

Thanks randycarroll. I'll look into the 1600 phones.
We are unsure of what the future has for us as far as telephone systems are concerned. We will be upgrading our current 911 telephony system to be Next Gen 911 compliant and depending on the what is available and offered we may be letting that same system server our administrative offices too. If we keep the CM we may segregate the two and let the CM server only the administrative offices or down size to a smaller Avaya IP (SIP) product.
