Can anyone explain this error to me? Is my fan dying? :(

Getting this wall'd now.. old AIX lpar.. 7 years old maybe.. running 5.2 which IBM won't even support me on anymore..

Thanks for any help on this!

Just because IBM won't support AIX 5.2 doesn't mean they won't support your hardware. If you don't address this, you can possibly lose power to the entire frame. If you still have a service contract then you should open a call with 1-800-IBM-SERV to have a tech come in.
 
Yeah, AIX 5.2 may be out of support but you need hardware support.
It looks like the fan at U0.1-F3 may have failed.
Try diag > advanced diags > system verification > sysplanar0 and see if it is still reporting or if it was a one off.

1xxx 7631 Air Moving Device missing error

A problem was dectected with an Air Moving Device which can be caused by an Air Moving Device not being installed. Ensure the fans, and fan tray are fully seated into the fan connectors. Install Air Moving Device if missing, replace if already installed.
