Can an onboard SATA *and* a CERC 6 RAID 1 array run together

Hi, Dell PE830 is using a RAID 1 array on a CERC SATA 1.5/6ch card.

I'd like to use a SATA connection off the motherboard to connect a HDD that can be 'hot-swapped' for backups - is this possible while retaining the RAID controller to run the system.
