I haven't touched Ajax yet, merely because I'm not sure exactly what benefits it offers.

Here's my scenario. I have a site that has its content constructed via a mysql database, but I want to reduce loading of graphics and such.

Using Ajax, can I setup the site so that the layout stays the same (more or less) but the text and other body content is refreshed without having to reload the images?

I don't need to know how, just if it's possible. I'll learn how (that's the fun of programming... learning new stuff), I just need to know if learning is worth the time and effort.

Thanx in advance.

PS: If anyone knows any good resources on learning Ajax, I'm not opposed to some direction.

Yes it is possible. Go back to the Forum list and click on the Book icon (under the "Show First" column header). You will find some decent resources in the threads that have the Book icon.

Also, I have found Professional Ajax a decent book. With your level of JavaScript capability (I checked your profile), you should find Ajax fairly easy to do. This book deals with both the client (JavaScript) side and the server side.

Finally, while it is still sparse (this forum is relatively young), check the FAQ for this forum.

Thank you kind sir. I have a profile? I should probably update that thing. It's been a while I believe.

Thank you again sir, I got some work to do now.
