I've got a client with Adobe Acrobat 6.0.4 Standard. When he opens multiple PDF files at once, multiple instances of acrobat.exe open up. When he closes acrobat, only one instance of acrobat.exe closes but the app window goes away.

I've noticed that it happens particularly when opening multiple PDFs at the same time. However, if I open up these same files individually, one at a time, only one instance of acrobat.exe shows up and closes when I close the app.

I've tried the repair process, but no joy.

I'm thinking of installing Adobe Reader 7.x in addition to Adobe Acrobat Std 6 to see if it helps. Can these two applications live together in harmony?

There is no problem. I use both. Just make sure that you pick the one that you want to be the default app for opening pdf documents.
