Do ACT 5 and ACT 6 play nice together? I have a copy of ACT 6, but the company still has 5.04 and I want to know if they are compatable, or if 6 will take the .dbf file and update that as well. If that is the case, I will stick to 2000. I know the company is going to move to 6.02 as soon as they get all the licence info worked out, but for now I am the only one. If anyone knows if these 2 versions can share a database, please let me know. I do not want to mess up the database. But I do want to try 6.0. If they cannot "share" a database then do you know if they can sync? This would be just as well.

Thank you
EV

The database scema IS different, s they do not play nicely together. I have not been as close the the development side as I once was, but most of the local ACC's (ACT! Certified Consultants) I know have yet to convert their working databases to 6.x.

If you are not using synchronization and are working from a networked database, then I would not have any hesitation about going to 6.0. Many of the new features are very good, however I feel that Best pushed this out a bit soon. I have a copy of 6.x on a machine at home, but we will wait a bit longer before converting to 6.x at work. I had one guy who was still working on 3.03 when I came here. He is now on 5.04.
