Hi Guys,
I have a problem to make a form which has the input fields.
After I created all input fields and saved the form, I tried to read by Acrobat Reader and input the fields then saved it. But an error prompted that unable to save or must have the full version of Acrobat.
I am supposed to make a form for customer filling up and sending back by email.
Could any of you advise me ? Thanks a lot !

This is correct, the only way to get an email sent with the acrobat form from the reader is to post the fdf data to a script handling web page (asp, cgi etc.) which can process the data and create the pdf attachment.

If you go to you can download the fdfgateway asp script which does this. Make sure you also have the fdftoolkit from Adobe (free). There are a lot of helpful articles relating to this there as well Derren

Derren, thanks a lot !
But how can I send the pdf attachement with fields value to a file (e.g. a:\file) ? Any idea ?

Yes, the fdfgateway script needs to create a "real" file on the server so that it can attach the file to the email, so it is all there for you. You just need to decide what to call it!

Form data from the pdf is sent in a "fdf" format, which contains the details of the contents/setting of each field in the pdf and a path to where the orginal pdf file lives. When these files are opened they pull the pdf file that they need and then populate it with the form data. Derren

Wait JUST a second there! It's WAY easier than that!
You don't need full-blown acrobat, just Acrobat APPROVAL, which lets you save with form data intact.... enjoy. ($40) adobe.com

Derren,

Where can you find the FDFToolkit on Adobe's website? I cannot find it. Same with the ASP script. Thanks
