Had a service call yesterday where customer was complaining about the confusing message the system announceds after the greeting plays. It's the one that goes like:

"If you know your party's extension you may dial it at any time, for company directory press #, to leave a message press *...."

The confusing part is when you press *, it doesn't go to a mailbox, but plays another recording like:

"If you know the extension you may dial it now or press # for a company directory...".

This is confusing to alot of callers who hear this, as they would expect to get a mailbox after pressing *.

I solved the problem by modifying the greeting table. Instead of having the greeting play in the greeting section, I removed the recording from there and placed it into the CCR menu greeting. Now after the greeting plays, it will momentarily transfer the caller to the attendant DN.

Question I still have is, can that confusing greeting I mentioned earlier be removed?

What you are hearing is the default AA menu prompt. What I have done in the past is record a secound of silence under the custom auto attend. menu prompt. That should remove it.

I have reviewed the settings in the Greeting Table and the custom auto attendant recording was already recorded with a few seconds of silence.

That was what I thought at first, too, but is not the case.

You can cheat by using CCR tree, it will ignore the AA part of the greeting. If you only use a single promt in the CCR tree, IE; press 1 for the operator.
