Can a wildcard (%) be used in thru a run control

I have created a ps query linked it to a crystal report and had it added to a menu item in PeopleSoft HRMS. The query and crystal report on there own allow me to use a wildcard (Deptid like CE%) and data is returned. However, when I try this thru a run control in PeopleSoft HRMS I get an error message (not a valid value).

The question is can a wildcard be used when running a report within PeopleSoft via a run control?
