Can a Table Field Defaut be set to a form Controls contents 1

Hi All,

I want to set the default value of a table field to the contents of a form control. I keep getting an error that the form control cannot be found.

Is this possible or do I need another way to populate the field.

You need another way.
Anyway you don't want to edit records directly in the table but in a form, don't you ?

Hi PHV,

Actually there are several ways that users can add records to this table and I would like to be certain that this field is populated no matter how records are added.

Can this be done with a public variable or must it be done programmatically after all records are supposed to have been added?

there are several ways that users can add records to this table
I'd write a commun validation routine I'd call in each BeforeUpdate event procedures.
