Can a Square System have separate voice mail boxes?

Old release MICS, PBX, DID template set to PBX, client wants all lines to "Appear and Ring" at all the sets.

No can do with this release if he wants Voice Mail.

Theory...

Bogen TPU hooked to Aux Ringer. All outside lines ring over paging system.

All sets programmed for "Appear Only". Some sets have Voice Mail. Outside Lines will not trigger a Voice Mail on sets.

Accounting and sales in same office with no overhead paging.

Install ATA programmed with Lines 1 through 4 hooked to a bell/ringer.

The ATA/Ringer does the ringing...like a Poor mans Queue and Accounting or Sales can answer the Lines.

Accounting and Sales telephones are programmed with Lines 1 through 4 to "Appear Only".

Accounting and Sales can now have Voice Mail Boxes.

This is my work around.

Will this work?

The only thing that I'm not sure about, is can an ATA have multiple Lines programmed to it?

Did Nortel ever fix this problem?

You can have voice mail but just be careful with the timers is all.
If you have AA set to 4 rings as a backup then make sure the Call Forward No Answer at the sets are at 4 or higher.

Aux ringer is only triggered if you set the AUX to yes under each set in Capabilities, only program the required sets that need AUX ringer.

ATA can have several lines but do not see the need for it;s involvement.

The ATA is good news as the Sales and Accounting office is outside the earshot of the PA system and I need something in that office that will ring when the 4 outside line ring. I could do a "Pickup" but the boss wants all the lines to appear at every phone.

So I'll program the ATA for the 4 Outside Lines and hook up a ringer in the Sales and Accounting office and that will take care of those two phones.

For the rest of the phones, I'll hook up the Aux. Ring connection to the Bogen TPU and set the the Lines to Aux. Ring.

No outside Lines will ring at any telephone and I can go ahead and add Voice Mail without reservation.
